At Victorian Aboriginal News we’re a pretty small team. A small team working on avant garde projects that promote positive First Nations stories in a new way.
To say that it can be financially tough is putting it gently, especially when it comes to keeping Violet the Van on the road and making significant investments in new professional audio and video equipment.
Like a knight – of no specific gender, mind you – galloping to our aid, came the incredible team from the State Government’s Creative Victoria.
Awarding us two grants totalling $35,000, we have been able to purchase two new fully fitted-out Blackmagic Design 4K Cameras (Victorian made, thank you very much), and a new extremely portable/mobile video editing suite.
The cameras, which we estimate will last us quite a few years, are instrumental in a new and very exciting project that we’re keeping under wraps right now, but will be launched within the next two months.
The rest of the money, the second of the two grants is being used to fund the production of that project, which is being produced in partnership with our close colleagues at Reconciliation Victoria.
Would you like to more about the project?
Simple! Subscribe to our newsletter (subscribe form below) and you’ll be among the first to know (and see). Get in there and take a lead – that’s a hint, by the way.
A huge thank you to all our newsletter subscribes and to the fantastic teams at the organisations that were crucial in helping us gain our grants:
- Reconciliation Victoria
- The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria
- The Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations
and, of course
Thank you!
