SIXTIES SOJOURN

Our hit music program, Sixties Sojourn, returns to 3KND

All the best music from the decade that gave the world nothing less than the very best of music - the 60s. Hosted by VAN's Charles Pakana.

We’re absolutely rapt to announce that commencing on the 14th of April 2024, our hit music program, Sixties Sojourn, began airing once again on Victoria’s only Aboriginal radio station 3KND 1503AM.

Sixties Sojourn is one of two programs that Victorian Aboriginal News will be providing at no cost to 3KND in a new partnership that was drawn up between the two organisations following a change in management at the radio station.

Producer and host of the program, VAN’s Charles Pakana, said: “I’m fully aware that it has pretty well nothing at all to do with news and current affairs, but it’s a passion of mine, and it was with a real sense of sadness that I had to pull the program from 3KND several years ago.

“Times have changed, though, and I have every confidence in the new – all Aboriginal – management team at 3KND.

“Both our organisations have a common goal – to empower Aboriginal voices through media.”

Every Sunday at 3pm

Sixties Sojourn will be broadcast on 3KND every Sunday at 3pm, and VAN has committed to at least a six-month series of programs.

Listeners can request songs by clicking on the Request Song button on the Sixties Sojourn section of this website.
